Defaulters list sent to the Chief Justice for further action; and Date for official use of Advocates’ Electronic Stamps

As you may recall from our previous communication, after 01st February 2023 the list of defaulting members will be forwarded to the Chief Justice requesting him to remove the said names from the Roll of Advocates for non-compliance.

Please take note that in compliance with PART VI (Section 34, 35, 36, and 38) of The Advocates Act, Cap 341. Section 10 of The Tanganyika Law Society Act, Cap 307 and Regulation 4 of the Tanganyika Law Society (Annual Subscriptions) Regulations GN 600 of 2022, the Governing Council has forwarded the attached list of defaulting members to the Chief Justice for further action.

Through this notice, therefore, defaulting members are still encouraged to ensure they pay their outstanding balances and inform the Secretariat to avoid measures to be taken by the Chief Justice

Take Note that, the list will be published in various media of communication for public awareness.

On a separate note, please be informed that the Use of Advocates Electronic Stamps officially started on 01st February 2023. We have sent a letter to various legal stakeholders requesting them to support our mission of curbing illegal practice by encouraging the use of electronic stamps.

Members are therefore urged and encouraged to use these stamps in order to protect the reputation of our legal fraternity.
