TLS Committees

These are advisory body of the Council and the Chapter Executive Committees at national and chapter level respectively. These are the standing committees of the Society and they are working and helping hand of the Council and the Chapters’ Executive Committee in implementation of Council and Chapters’ roles at national and chapter level respectively.

There are two categories of the Committees: National Committees established by the Council at national level and chapter committees established by Chapter executive Committees.

The Council has been empowered by the law (TLS Act Cap 307 as amended) to establish Committees with the aim of advising the Council on various matters of the Society. The national Committees report to the Council on quarterly basis.

The Chapter Executive Committee has a mandate, which is derived from the Tanganyika Law Society (Chapters and Chapter Zones) Regulations to establish chapter committees with the aim of advising their respective chapter executive committee on matters relating to respective chapter’s affairs. Chapter committees report to the Chapter Executive Committee and to the relevant national committee on quarterly basis.
