TANGANYIKA LAW SOCIETY (ELECTIONS) GUIDELINES, 2020

Dear valued members,

Greetings from the Secretariat!

Due to recent amendments in the Tanganyika Law Society Cap 307,  the Governing Council of the Tanganyika Law Society sitting in its Extra Ordinary Meeting held on Friday, 13th March 2020 has, among other things, noted that the law has introduced new leadership positions in the Society that will require elections of members while the current Tanganyika Law Society ( Elections) Regulations GN 116 of 2018 does not provide for elections procedures on the said positions.

The Council resolved to use its power vested by the TLS Act Cap 307 as amended; to make Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Guidelines, 2020 to guide election of various introduced positions and procedures for elections of such positions which are not provided for under the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Regulations GN 116 of 2018.

Members are urged to take note that both Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Guidelines, 2020 and the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Regulations, GN 116 of 2018 shall be used to regulate the 2020 Society General Elections. However, the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Regulations, GN 116 of 2018  shall only be used as far as they are not inconsistent with the Tanganyika Law Society Act Cap 307 as amended.

Here are the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Guidelines, 2020 and the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Regulations GN 116 of 2018 for your information and reference.

We thank you for your attention and wishing you a blessed and safe day.
