The Governing Council of the Tanganyika Law Society as empowered by Rule 3 of the Tanganyika Law Society (Elections) Regulations, GN No. 116 of 2018 established a Nominations Committee in May 2018 to carry the process of TLS Elections for the year 2019.
The Nomination Committee met on 26th and 27th February 2019, following the closing of the nominations period, to carry out vetting process for members nominated in various positions so as to identify those who satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed for the position being sought. For that, the Chairperson of the Nomination Committee wishes to declare successful and unsuccessful members who have been vetted to contest for various electoral positions.
Details on all candidates who were nominated, successful and unsuccessful candidates for the positions of President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer, Council members, Chapter leaders and TLS Representative in the Advocate Committee are provided for in the attached document.
Further, the attached document provides for directions to those wishing to appeal or file objections.
Please also note that campaigns for elections commence upon release of this notice until Friday, 05th April 2019.
