SADC is working on a project of establishing a Regional seat for International Commercial Arbitration and Investment Dispute Resolution. SADCLA is hereby in the process of setting up a panel of Arbitrators to be part of the inaugural SADC panel.
The SADCLA Council’s resolution in Maputo AGM resolved to come up with Regional Database of Arbitrators and recommended that such panel members should have the following criterias;
(a)Hold an Undergraduate Degree or equivalent,
(b)An advanced degree in a business, corporate or commercial law related field of law or relevant substantive experience
(c) be admitted to practice law in the member state.
(d)be a member in good standing with the law society in the nominating member state, and further SADCLA.
(e)must have undertaken specific and targeted training in arbitration/mediation with a renowned professional institution and/or educational institution;
(f)must demonstrate practical knowledge in arbitration/mediation; and
(g)should have two (2) traceable references from practitioners of high standing within the country of residence, preferably from persons that have arbitration/mediation credential
